The short version
Some links on vanlife.ie are affiliate links. If you click one and buy / book something, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. We only recommend products and services we'd actually use or have researched seriously. The commission doesn't change what we write; reviews are based on merit.
The longer version
Vanlife.ie participates in affiliate programmes, which means we get paid a referral fee when a reader clicks a tagged link on vanlife.ie and then makes a qualifying purchase or booking on the retailer's site. Typical commission is 2–10% of the sale and comes out of the retailer's margin, not the reader's pocket.
How we flag affiliate content
- Every page that contains affiliate links carries a visible disclosure box near the top, before the affiliate links.
- Affiliate links are tagged with
rel="sponsored"so search engines can tell them apart from editorial links. - We try to tell you why we recommend a product — what works, what doesn't, who it's for.
Programmes we use
(This list is updated as we join or leave programmes.)
- Amazon Associates (Ireland / UK) — on the gear page, and occasionally in articles where we link to a specific product.
- Bunk Campers (direct referral) — on the rentals page.
- Indie Campers (via Awin) — on the rentals page.
- Roadsurfer (via CJ Affiliate) — on the rentals page.
- Direct affiliate programmes with individual brands, where they exist.
What we won't do
- Recommend a product solely because the commission is high.
- Hide disclosures or bury them in small print.
- Take money to post a fake positive review.
- Claim personal use or testing if we haven't done it.
Sponsored content
Paid posts, sponsored reviews, and paid placements would be labelled "Sponsored" at the top of the article and disclosed distinctly from affiliate commission. As of April 2026, we don't run any sponsored content. If that changes, the policy will be updated here first.
Advertising standards
We follow ASAI (Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland) guidance and ASA UK rules for commercial content, as well as the FTC Endorsement Guides where relevant to our audience.
Corrections / questions
If you spot an affiliate link that isn't disclosed clearly, or any other editorial issue, mail hello@vanlife.ie and we'll fix it.
